First Night® Portsmouth Community Initiative

Since 1986, Portsmouth has come alive on New Year's Eve with an annual celebration - featuring music, dance, children's activities, street performers and ice sculptures - known as First Night® Portsmouth.

First Night® Portsmouth affords our Community the opportunity to come together as one, reflecting on the year that has passed and looking forward with hope and great anticipation to the year ahead. Entertainment takes place in many of our historic buildings, churches and civic centers. The event is non-alcoholic, non-smoking and features activities and performances that appeal to all ages. Many area hotels offer special packages including First Night® buttons. 

What is Pro Portsmouth proposing?:
Each year, First Night attracts thousands of people to the City for a New Year's Celebration. The event costs Pro Portsmouth approximately $50.0K to produce; financially, its 'livelihood' depends on sponsorships, donations and button sales to pay for all related event costs from performers to rental trucks.

In addition to corporate sponsorships, we encourage and invite our small businesses and community members to add their names to the list of supporters for First Night®. As one of only two remaining First Night® cities in New Hampshire, we believe that this event is vital to our continued success as a destination for family, friends and neighbors from down the street and around the world.

We propose to offer 100 shares in First Night® Portsmouth at $250 per share.

Additionally, another 200 shares available at $100 per share can be purchased to support First Night® Portsmouth.

This bold initiative would have a goal of raising $45.0K for Pro Portsmouth's production of the event!

What are the benefits?
By having numerous parties contribute smaller amounts, the Community supports the event.

In return, those purchasing a share at $250 would receive 4 free First Night® Portsmouth buttons; a $100 share, 2 First Night® Portsmouth buttons.

You will be acknowledged as a Supporting Sponsor on our First Night® Portsmouth webpage (listing company and/or individuals) and noted in event program.

Multiple shares of 5+ purchased ($2,500, $1,000, $500) would receive additionalbenefits such as event and web presence, logos on merchandise, etc.

Pro Portsmouth, Inc. is a non-profit classified as a 501c (3) by the Internal revenue Service. All sponsorships and donations directly benefit the efforts of Pro Portsmouth and its Mission to promote the Arts, Culture, History and Community of Portsmouth and the Seacoast.
