Market Square Day
Market Square Day was the first event produced by the non-profit, Pro Portsmouth. Created to celebrate the renovation and beautification of Downtown Portsmouth and, in particular, Market Square, the Festival has grown in size along with the growth and popularity of Portsmouth.

Market Square Day ‘kicks off’ with the Market Square Day 10K Road Race. The course winds its way around town giving participants a unique look at our City and, in particular, the people who embrace this race. Don’t be surprised to see neighborhood breakfast parties along the route!

Summer in the Street
“Summer in the Street” is the result of an initiative to identify/create pedestrian-friendly areas Downtown where musicians, dance and theatre companies can entertain folks in the heart of the City. Activities hosted in partnership with other non-profits are part of the Mission of our “Street” sessions.

Children’s Day
Who says children aren’t in charge? Each year on the first Sunday of May, Downtown Portsmouth becomes headquarters for children of all ages with the celebration of Children’s Day. An estimated 5,000+ “children” visit Portsmouth to take part in an afternoon of fun on the Seacoast.
